Mail art by Monsenhor enVide neFelibata (Porto, Portugal)
I am reasonably sure the blogjam was invented by Nancy Bell Scott (Maine, USA) several years ago at the IUOMA-Ning. Nancy had a backlog of mail art received that she wanted to document. Foregoing her customary commentary and profuse thanks, she embarked on a scanning marathon and produced a montage that had a randomly assembled, hurried appearance, often revealing interesting and unexpected juxtapositions.
Out of necessity, aesthetic interest or some meeting of the two motivations, other artists began producing blogjams. Some blogjams are primarily visual bombardments. They frequently (but not always!) seem composed of odds and ends that both literally and figuratively “fell through the cracks.”
Today the blogjam has become an accepted form. Lately IUOMA-Ning has been graced by some wonderful new blogjams. I revert to the blogjam format in this posting to show solidarity with my IUOMA blogging comrades and, like Nancy in former times, to catch up with documentation and thanks.
Great stuff by Monsenhor. Looks like Trashpo.
